The Mesquite Fire Fighters Association would like to take this time to introduce a $500.00 (five-hundred dollars) scholarship that is available to Mesquite Fire Fighters Associations members’ children.The person chosen can be a graduating senior or enrolled in a college or university.The recipient will be chosen by lottery.A number will be assigned to each application, and at the deadline, a number will be drawn and the award made.
The student chosen for the Mesquite Fire Fighters Scholarship will need to show academic achievements, community involvement, exhibit good citizenship, and demonstrate financial need.The scholarship committee will recommend a candidate during the March regular meeting.The award of the scholarship will be approved by a vote during the March meeting.The following is a list of minimum requirements:
1.Must apply before March 31, 2010.
2.Must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or equivalent.
3.Submit a 200-word essay on “Why a College Education Is Important to Me.”
4.List activities that you are involved in at school and extracurricular.
5.Must submit MFFA scholarship application.
6.The student awarded the scholarship will be enrolled in at least 12 semester hours or a graduating senior.
